Lucian Freud is often lauded as an artistic genius.Attracting both media curiosity and female attention in equal measures, he was ruthlessly commercial in selling his art and ferociously protective of his privacy. The Queen and Kate Moss famously sat for him and conformed to his exacting standards on each sitting. It was a privilege then, to attend a talk by Geordie Greig, Editor of the Mail on Sunday describing his relationship with this extraordinary man. Over 15 years, Greig frequently met Lucian in unexpected locations for early breakfasts often accompanied by a bottle of Burgandy or cider. Through these meetings Greig garnered an insight into the artist which he shared with the well coiffed and suitably bejeweled crowd at Grace Belgravia on Tuesday evening.
