Brunch at Christie's June 03 2013

Magnificent brunch and private viewing of Important Jewels at Christie's King Street. A particularly lovely way to spend a Sunday morning in the hallowed halls of this great institution. The brunch was delicious quail eggs benedict and florentine which were served alongside miniature smoked salmon bagels and Bloody Mary's. Strawberries and clotted cream were also on the menu but the piece de resistence was the ice sculpture housing a selection of ice creams where the elegant, bejewelled guests queued demurely to get their cones. Brenda and I were blown away by the stunning pieces on view and tried a number of these special jewels on to really get the feel of the quality and craftsmanship. Some were rather difficult for us to remove and return to display. Our friend Armelle de Laubier Rhally, Chrisites UK Business Manager for Jewellery, was able to direct us to the discreet room housing Private Sales. Incredible jewels twinkling from every corner of the room. Alexandre Rieunier, Private Sales Manager, showed us a 31 carat pearl, the 3rd largest in the world. It looks like a gigantic and very beautiful marble. The Important Jewellery sale is always so exciting. Good luck to all involved.
